GARBAHAREY (Halbeeg News) – Gunmen have abducted Jubbaland education official near Garbaharey on Sunday.
According to sources, Mohamed Ibrahim was ordered to step down from a vehicle he was traveling in from Burdubo to Garbaharey by armed men with masks.
Security agencies in the Gedo region said they had launched operations to rescue the education officer.
Ibrahim was returning from Burdubo where he supervised high school exams.
It is not immediately clear who is responsible for the abduction, but armed group al-Shabaab is very active in the area and has previously conducted similar actions targeting traditional elders and humanitarian workers.
