Mogadishu (Halbeeg News) — Somali government is in the last preparation to launch an all-out war against al-Shabaab fighters in Jubbaland and Southwest states, Somali Prime minister, Hamze Abdi Barre said Tuesday.
PM Hamza boasted that the government forces backed by the local clan militias in southcentral Somalia eradicated al-Shabaab from Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle region following months-long intense operations against the group.
According to PM Hamze, the government forces already started operations against al-Shabaab in parts of Southwest state.
The remarks of the PM come as the government forces claimed to have killed hundreds of al-Shabaab fighters in week-long operations against al-Shabaab fighters in the Middle Shabelle and Galgaduud regions.
The government forces also liberated dozens of villages and towns in the Hiiraan, Galgaduud and Middle Shabelle regions.
