Federal government forces in Beledweyne have shot dead a man suspected to be Al-shabab member who attacked government forces at Howl Wadag village on Wednesday evening.
The suspect wounded a government soldier before he was shot dead by the forces.
Arab Yusuf Noor, a senior security official told Halbeeg.com that the government forces in Howl Wadag killed a suspected Al-shabab fighter after he attacked and wounded a government soldier in Howl Wadag village in Beledweyne.
“This man waged attack on government forces in Howl Wadag village and wounded a soldier among the forces, he was finally killed by the government forces” Arab said.
Arab stressed that the government are always vigilant to foil the plots and attacks of security spoilers in the region.
Al-shabab fighters normally carry out attacks against government institutions and military bases in South and Central Somalia in a bid to topple the international recognized federal government and impose their strict interpretation of sharia.
