Mogadishu stabilization forces have launched security operations aimed to beef up the security of the capital, Mogadishu.
At least 60 auto-rickshaws with no number plates were nabbed during the intensive operations carried out at Hodan district of Benadir region.
The deputy governor of Benadir region in charge of security, Mohamed Abdullahi Tulah was leading the operations. He was accompanied by Hodan district commissioner Mohamed Antoobo and security commanders.
Speaking after the operations, Hodan district commissioner underlined that the crackdown is aimed to strengthen the security of the city, he added that the operations will continue until all the security threats will be ended.
On his side, the deputy governor, Tulah said the apprehended drivers of auto-rickshaw are suspected to be behind the security threats in the capital.
“The nabbed auto-rickshaws during the operations are suspected to be behind the attacks that normally occur in Mogadishu since have no registration number plates”
He added that any person arrested while driving a car or auto-rickshaw without number plate will seen as an individual giving hand to the terrorist agencies.
He called on the drivers to abide by the law and number plates so as to enable the security agencies foil the plans of security spoilers to carry out attacks and assassinations.
This operation comes a day after Somali premier said the district commissioners will be held accountable of the insecurity cases of their respective districts.
Speaking at security meeting in Mogadishu, Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheire said his government is committed to restore peace in capital and other parts of the country.
Mr. Kheire directed the security officials to work hand in glove with the the district commissioners.
“The commanders of armed forces, Minister for Security and Benadir Governor should hand over the security responsibility to the district commissioners,” said Kheire.
