DHUSAMREEB (Halbeeg News) – Galmudug has pledged that it will support the locals who took arms against Al-shabaab fighters in central Somalia.
Security minister, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi who visited villages in Galgaduud region has met self-organized local fighters who fought the group in the areas.
The minister commended the locals for defending their areas from al-Shabaab fighters.
“Galmudug state government is always proud of you, you have proved that the group can be defeated. Your efforts go in vain. We will support you to defeat these militants,” he said.
The move barely a week after eight were people including al-shabaab and locals in central Somalia following heavy fighting al-shabaab and locals.
The fighting took place in Shabellow village 20 kilometers west of the Ba’ad weyn district.
Group lost many town in Galmudug state after engaging in heavy clashes with Ahlu-Sunna Waljama some years back.
