DHUSAMAREB (Halbeeg News) – Galmudug forces backed by Somali military troops will soon conduct operations to liberate al-Shabaab controlled areas in central Somalia, Galmudug Security ministry said.
Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, Galmudug Security minister has directed Galmudug forces to move to front lines to annihilate from the state.
“The armed forces including SNA and Galmudug Dervish forces are ready to defend people of the state from al-Shabaab fighters. We need them to move to areas controlled by the militants in order to help civilians in those areas,” he said.
Galmudug state has been struggling to defeat al-Shabaab fighters, who control parts of Galgaduud and Mudug regions, for the last four years.
Late last Month, Al-Shabaab suicide bomber had blown himself up at a stadium in Galkayo minutes before Somali prime minister visited the area.
Over ten people among SNA commanders were killed in the blast.
The group also carries hit and run attacks against Somali military base in central Somalia.
