MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Galmudug leader Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qorqor has arrived in Mogadishu ahead of the sixth round of electoral talks with president Mohamed Farmaajo.
Qorqor and his delegation were welcomed at the airport by officials from the federal government.
The leader will attend the talks between the leaders of the federal government and regional states on the electoral process.
His Jubbaland and Puntland counterparts, Ahmed Mohamed Madobe and Saed Abdullahi Deni had landed in Mogadishu last week to take part in the talks.
Puntland and Jubbaland leaders have been at loggerheads with president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo in recent months over how the elections will be held.
The two leaders alongside the opposition leaders demanded the talks to be expanded to include participation of the opposition and fresh start of the talks over the elections.
The federal government however wants a straight forward approach to the talks putting two agenda items on the table.
One is the signing of the implementation process of the September 17 deal and secondly giving the nod to the Baidoa Framework agreed to by a joint technical committee.
