MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali army said its forces liberated villages from al-Shabaab fighters following intensive operations in Galgaduud region.
Speaking to the media, Abdullahi Abdi Raghe, SNA commander who is leading the operations said al-Shabaab had vacated several villages in the region.
“The operations have been ongoing since last week, the forces have successfully liberated villages in the region,” he said.
The forces recaptured Bula’ale village after al-Shabaab vacated the locality.
He said the forces covered a huge cache of weapons left by al-Shabaab.
He vowed that the forces will continue carrying out operations against al-Shabaab fighters.
“The operations will be continuous until villages under al-Shabaab are liberated,” he said.
The commander urged the public to collaborate with the army in the fight against al-Shabaab.
“The security forces need the help of the public, I urged the public to work with the forces secure the region,” he stated.
