MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – At least four inmates have been confirmed and several other sustained injuries following foiled prison-break in Mogadishu jail.
In a statement, Ismail Mukhtar Omar, the spokesperson of Somali information ministry said the forces forces killed four prisoners who attempted escape from the jail after engaging in gun battle against the guards.
The official also confirmed that there were other death and injury cases but did not specify.
“Security forces shot dead 4 prisoners who tried to escape from prison, there are death and injuries suffered by inmates, The situation is now stable, no prisoners had escaped,” he said.
It is not yet clear how the inmates obtained weapons.
