MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Former President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has urged the country’s leadership to resolve their differences to pave the way for fair and free elections amid constitutional crisis in the country following dismissal of top officials in the government.
In press conference in Mogadishu, Sharif who is chairperson of council presidential candidates (CPC) has described the dispute between President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and PM Mohamed Hussein Roble as “unfortunate”.
“The dispute between the two leaders disappoints Somali citizens and international partners as country came a long way from civil war,” Sharif said.
The remarks of the leader come amid the political struggles between Somalia’s national executive leadership skyrocket following Prime minister’s dismissal of NISA boss and the country’s security minister, a move the president termed “illegal and unconstitutional.”
Meanwhile, Presidents Ahmed Qoorqoor (Galmudug) and Abdiasis Lafta Gareen arrived in Mogadishu amid reports they will be seeking to mediate the President and Prime Minister.
