Former Lower House speaker, Mohamed Osman Jawari is scheduled to give a good-bye speech to the members today; a day after initial plan was called off.
Jawari stepped down unconditionally on Monday after a month-long stand in the Lower House parliament.
The former speaker is expected deliver his final speech on his achievement for the last six years he had been leading the House.
First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Abdiweli Mudey has on Wednesday informed the lawmakers to convene for the session.
Mudey will be chairing the sittings of the House till the new speaker is elected to fill the position left by Jawari.
Since Jawari declared his resignation, the political groups and members of House have started lobby to support numerous individuals who have shown interests to hold the position.
According to the Standing Orders of the House, the Lower House of Parliament is required to elect a new Speaker in two weeks.
Jawari has been occupying the office since October 2012 when the Post Transitional government came to the power.
