Somalia’s newly appointed Information Minister, Dahir Mohamud Guelleh has been sworn into the office barely a week after he was appointed by Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheire.
The Chairperson of Rule of Procedure, Ethics, Discipline and Immunity Committee, Mohamed Moalim Yahye administered the oath of office in the presence of Lower House Speaker, Mohamed Mursal Abdirahman.
The speaker of the Lower House told the new minister to spearhead the ministry and ensure he is guided by the constitution
The minister has pledged to execute his duties as per the constitution and to have cooperation with the parliament.
“I would like to execute the duties entrusted to me as per required and closely work with anybody who shares the duty with us,” said Guelleh.
Guelleh who is expected to assume the office in the forthcoming day will be filling the post vacated by his predecessor who was moved to Mogadishu Mayorship.
The minister returned to the country on Thursday from Saudi Arabia where he was serving as Somalia’s ambassador for three years.
Guelleh was appointed as an ambassador of Somalia to Saudi Arabia in 2015 by the then President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
