JOWHAR (Halbeeg News) – Traders in Jowhar market are counting losses following properties destruction caused by midnight fire.
The fire erupted at the market on Monday night from a store before spreading to nearby shops and at last destroyed a number of business centers including shops, pharmacies, restaurants, hardware’s and cloth stalls.
The public has battled to contain the inferno but it was too late salvage the properties.
No casualties have been reported.
The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electric fault.
The extent of damage is yet to be established and Jowhar local authorities have not commented on the tragic incident.
Jowhar town in Middle Shabelle region which is the administrative capital of Hirshabelle state has no fire fighters.
