MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – More than 25 representatives from foreign business companies in Europe have arrived in Mogadishu on Monday.
The delegates who are mostly from Finish business companies were welcomed at the Aden Abdulle International Airport in Mogadishu by federal government officials led by the trade minister, Mohamed Hayir Mareye.
They are part of guests invited to attend a joint investment conference organised by Somalia and Finland in forthcoming days.
The federal government of Somalia is luring multinational business cooperation firms to invest in the country in an effort to boost the economy of the horn of African state ravaged by more than two decades of unrest.
Earlier this month Maersk Line international container shipping company has announced the resumption of its services in Somalia.
A vessel flying the giant shipping company flag docked at Mogadishu international port and was welcomed by the waiting guests including government officials, businesspeople, and Al beyrak management, the Turkish firm that runs the port.
The new shipping line is the sixth company to resume services in Somali port since the return of relative calm mainly in south-central Somalia.
