MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali Prime minister on Sunday announced that the talks between the leaders of federal government and its member states will resume this month a day after Somali parliament annulled two-year term extension for president farmaajo.
Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimu, the spokesperson of the government said the prime minister invited the leaders of regional states to participate in the consultative forum to resolve the impasse on the electoral process.
According to Moalimu, the conference will kick off on 20th of this month.
Following the lower house endorsement to adopt 17th Sep poll agreement, prime minister Roble pledged that his government will work on delivering free and fair parliamentary and presidential elections.
During speech at the parliament on Saturday, President Mohamed Abdullahi Faramaajo announced that he handed over implementation of electoral process to premier Roble. The PM will also take the responsibility of the election security.
Somalia was to hold its elections early this year but FGS-FMS leaders had disagreed over means to implementation electoral deal signed last September.
Leaders of Puntland and Jubbland states had been at loggerheads with federal government over Gedo and Somaliland issues.
Both states had been demanding the federal government to withdraw its elite forces deployed in the region last year following border dispute with the neighbouring Kenya.
The opposition alongside these two states pressed the government to review electoral committee implementing the elections of Somaliland MPs.
