MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – The leaders of the federal government and its member states will today sign revised election agreement in the forthcoming hours following days long talks in Somali capital, Mogadishu.
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, some leaders of opposition, prime minister, Mohamed Hussein Roble, leaders of regional states as well as the mayor of Somali capital are expected to attend the signing ceremony slated to take place Afisiyoni tent.
According to sources, the leaders have agreed number of contentious issues that led the delay parliamentary and presidential elections which were to be held late last year and this year respectively.
The lower house elections are reportedly to take place in two main towns of each regional states with each member of lower house being elected by 101 electoral college delegates.
During the meeting, the leaders also reportedly agreed the disputed electoral committees to be reshuffled by Prime Minister Roble. Some members of the committee who accused of being having links with government will be replaced with new officials.
According to the initials, the committees comprise of two namely the Federal Electoral Implementation Team (FEIT) and State Electoral Implementation Team (SEIT).
The FEIT have 25 members appointed by the federal government while 11 SEIT members who selected by regional state leaders.
According to the sources, the election security will take over the Somali Police Forces and AMISOM troops.
