GAROWE ( HALBEEG NEWS) – Maryam Abdikarim Ahmed scored the highest marks in recently concluded high school exams in the Puntland regional state of Somalia according to the ministry of education.
The student from Al Waha secondary school in Garowe scored 98.86 marks out of possible 100 according to the results released by the regional ministry of education on Monday.
Mohamud Abdisalam Mohamed from Sheikh Osman secondary school emerged the second student with the highest mark scoring with 98.14.
The girls outshined boys in the top ten positions scoping the six openings.
Students from Puntland state sat for their exams papers before their colleagues in the other part of the country.
Garowe based administration is at loggerheads with the federal government after the regional education authorities rejected to implement a nationalized examination curriculum by the federal ministry of education.
Education Minister Abdullahi Godah Bare said the students from Puntland who did not sit for national exams risk not receiving the recognized certificates from the ministry.
