MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Former Somali Foreign Minister Fowzia Yussuf Adam announced on Tuesday that she will run for the presidency in this year election.
The Presidential election in the horn of Africa nation will be held on Oct 10.
“My soul aim is to breath a new lease of life into Somalia. Our political ideology and believes are at the heart and soul of our political trajectory in deciding the best way Forward for my nation,” Ms Adam who currently serves as member of the federal parliament said.
In late 2012, Ms. Adam was named Foreign Minister and deputy Prime Minister of Somalia by Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon.
She was the first woman to have been selected for the position.
Ms. Adam who hails northern Somalia, the self-declared state of Somaliland, will have to face over a dozen male candidates including the incumbent to wrest the highest office in the country.
