MOGADISHU (Halbeeg)- The European Union has strongly condemned Saturday’s twin blasts at Somali Interior Ministry in the Somali capital Mogadishu.
Al-Shabab suicide bombers rammed two cars laden with explosives into the building of the Ministry.
The first blast took place when a suicide car bomb was detonated outside the building of the interior and security ministry.
The second hit near a police checkpoint adjacent to the place followed gunmen who forced their way into the building.
The attack claimed lives of 12 people and wounded more than 16 others.
EU Delegation to Somalia on Sunday condoled with the families and friends of the victims.
“EU strongly condemns yet another heinous terrorist attack in Mogadishu on 7/7/18 after a period of free major terror incidents. Our sincerest condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded. EU stands with the resilient people of Somalia,” the mission said in a Twitter post.

The latest attack came amid heightened security in the Somali capital following the deployment of more security forces and erection of security roadblocks along key roads.
Al-Shabab group has claimed responsibility for the latest attack which comes when the government increased military operations against the group across the nation.
