ADDIS ABABA ( Halbeeg News) – The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) is planning to open new branch in Somaliland.
The CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, Tewolde Gebremariam which has close financial relations with the bank online service has confirmed.
Ethiopia’s leading bank in collaboration with Africa’s biggest carrier Airlines launched a platinum co-branded card payment.
“All over the country, the bank has more than one thousand and five hundred and sixteen branches and two branches in South Sudan and Djibouti. The bank has a plan to open other branches in Somaliland and Saudi Arabia shortly,” The CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, Tewolde Gebremariam confirmed.
Last year alone nearly 67,480 e-tickets were sold bringing into play CBE’s digital payment channel, for the most part making use of the bank apps and online bookings.
The digital payment solution allows customers to put the CBE digital payment into effect.
The new announcement comes a year after Somalia, Eritrea, and Ethiopia announced joint economic integration.
The agreement is expected to boost trade between the three neighboring Cushitic states.
The Ethiopian airlines which resumed its flights in Somalia late last year has expanded its flights to major Somali cities.
