MOGADISHU ( HALBEEG NEWS) – The Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali National Security Advisor, Gedu Andargacho arrived in the Somali capital on Monday.
According to the Ethiopian ambassador in the country, Kamaludin Omar, Mr. Andargacho held a brief meeting with Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo where the two discussed the recent developments on law enforcement operations targeting the Tigray militias in the northern part of Abyssinia.
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo reiterated the significance of unity and restoration of law and order in the neighboring country led by the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
“I am delighted to have received, H.E. Gedu Andargacho, our National Security Advisor, here in Mogadishu where he met with President Farmajo and did exchange a great deal of what is taking place in Northern Ethiopia, the law enforcement operation.” Ambassador Kamaludin confirmed on social media.
He added that ‘President Farmajo confided to Ato. Gedu his solidarity and support to the ongoing law enforcement operation.”
The bilateral ties between Mogadishu and Addis Ababa have significantly improved after Nobel Laureate Abiy Ahmed came to power in April 2018.
The two nations that fought a fierce war over border dispute in 1977 resumed direct flights and signed trade and peace agreements.
