ADDIS ABABA (Halbeeg News) – Ethiopia plans to reduce the number of its executive members a move aiming at minimise expenditure of on its cabinet.
The Council of Ministers has approved a plan to downsize the number of cabinet ministers in Ethiopia from 28 to 20.
According to the state-owned media, the council a draft law to the House of People’s Representatives on the restructuring of the executive organs.
Fitsum Arega, Chief of Staff at the Prime Minister’s Office said the council also created new ones reflecting the government priority.
The local media reported that the Ministry of Trade will merge with the Ministry of Industry, and the Ministry of Science and Technology is to merge with the Communications and Information Minister.
The plan also emerges the Construction Ministry to Ministry of Urban Development.
