ADDIS ABAB (Halbeeg News) – The authorities in Ethiopia have displayed mugshots of several al-Shabaab and ISIS suspects arrested during countrywide security operations.
The operative suspected to have been planning to carry out attacks in different parts of Ethiopia including the capital had crossed the border into Ethiopia from different border points along Djibouti- Ethiopia-Somalia border.
The team including seven al-Shabaab suspects and ISIS suspects were photographing and documenting popular areas, Religious places and hotels.
The Ethiopian Intelligence agency has so far displayed photos of nine suspects who arrested with help of foreign spy agencies from the US, Italy, France, Spain, Djibouti, and Somalia.
The individuals are suspected to be members of al-Shabaab and ISIS.
According to a statement by Ethiopian National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), al-Shabaab dispatched its operatives to Addis Ababa using different routes.
The first group of al-Shabaab operatives led Mohamed Abdullahi Dulet crossed the border from Djibouti.
Dulet was leading a group consisting of three other men namely Abduk Mohammed Hussien, Sumter Mohammed Iman Yusuf and Redwan Mohammed.
The second group including Yishak Ali Aden and Aden Muhammed Mohammed was said to have entered Ethiopia from Hargeisa town.
Aden Muhammed Mohammed (Aden Boray) was caught with two separate bank accounts holding more than 2.5 million birr at the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, which was intended to finance the terrorist operation.
Other groups of al-Shabaab operatives are Eid Mohammed Ali, who was apprehended in Somali regional state, Chercher zone, Ararso Wereda, Bashir Osman Abdi, who was apprehended in Somali regional state, Fik area; as well as Osman Ali Hussien, who was apprehended in Moyale city, Oromia regional state.
In separate operations, Fai’d Abshir Yesuf, Muhmud Guhad Budil and Seid Omer Shibeshi who are suspected to be ISIS members were arrested.
