BELEDWEYNE( Halbeeg)- Ethiopian forces part of AMISOM troops operating in Hiran region have received medals and certificatesfor their efforts to restore peace and stability in a ceremony held in Beledweyne on Friday.
The award giving ceremony was attended by Hirshabelle president Mohamed Abdi Ware, Ethiopian ambassador to Somalia Jamuludin Mustafa Omar, AMISOM force commander Jim Beseegye, deputy minister of defense ministry, Abdullahi Olad Roble and other military officials from Somalia and AMISOM.
Speaking at the ceremony, ambassador Jamaludin urged Ethiopia troops to strengthen their relations with the community in order to beef up the security of the region.
“ AMISOM troops have close ties with the people and Hirshabelle administration, we have to strengthen the collaboration so as to strengthen the security of the areas under its control” said ambassador Jamaludin.
The deputy minister of defense ministry of federal government, Abdullahi Olad said AMISOM forces have sacrificed their lives to save the people and the government of Somalia from the bad intentions and attempts of extremist groups in the country.
AMISOM force commander, Jim Beseegye said AMISOM troops are ever ready to strengthen the security of Somalia and enable Somalia defeat Al-shabab and other anti peace elements hiding within the masses.
While decorating the officers during the ceremony, mr. Jim noted that AMISOM troops have made enormous contribution to enable the mission achieve its mandate.
Finally, Hirshabelle president, Mohamed Abdi Ware commended the strong collaboration between Somali National Army and AMISOM troops who jointly carry out offensives against Al-shabab fighters.
“ It is my pleasure to attend this important ceremony where AMISOM troops [ Ethiopian contingent] are awarded with medals and certificates. This testifies the brotherly bond between the people of Somalia and peace-keeping troops” said president Ware.
On Wednesday, outgoing contingent of Ethiopian National Defense Forces ( ENDF) of AMOSOM have received service medals for their role as peace-keeping forces in a ceremony held in Baidoa.
