MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – The owner of the recently attacked Elite hotel, Abdullahi Moalim Nur has insisted that he would never stand to pay bribe to al-Shabaab.
In an interview with Mogadishu based TV on Monday, Nur said he would not be deterred from investing the country.
Nur stated that he would not cooperate with Al-Shabaab in paying up money to finance their militancy.
“Though I was not directly asked money but I still believe that there no need of paying money to al-Shabaab for safety. They (al-Shabaab) finance the money in killing of innocent people,” he said. Let them attack as much as they can, I will step forward to give them money for safety.”
He called on the public to cooperate with the security in the fight against al-Shabaab.
In Twitter post, he said he was still ready to invest in the country.
“I have invested millions in my country in the last couple of years and I have created hundreds of jobs and believe it was the right thing to do I’m not giving up due to such heinous terrorist attacks and I’m committed to investing in the coming years,” said Nur.
On Sunday evening, heavily al-Shabaab fighters attacked Elite Hotel with a car packed with IEDs before they made their way into the hotel and started rampage shooting.
The attack which last for four hours claimed lives of about twenty and injured scores.
