MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – At least eight people have been killed and 16 other sustained injuries two vehicle Borne Improvise Explosive Devices (VBIEDs) exploded in Mogadishu.
According to Amin Ambulance team, the victims died in the first bomb blast which took place near Somali Parliament on Saturday.
The first suicide VBIED exploded as it tried to forcefully drive through a checkpoint at Sayidka junction near the parliament building.
Majority of those injured were said to be civilian s happened to be near the scene at the time of the blast.
Security forces have intercepted the second VBIED which exploded while driver was being questioned at K4 junction.
The police confirmed the arrest of the suspected driver of the second car.
Zakia Hussein, deputy police chief said that no one was injured in the attack.
“The driver of the VBIED has been apprehended and there were no casualties resulting from the blast,” Hussein said in a statement.
No group has claimed responsibility for the two latest attacks in Mogadishu but extremist group, al-Shabaab frequently stages such deadly attacks in the Horn of Africa nation.
