BOSASO ( Halbeeg News) – Security agencies in the port city of Bosaso in the Puntland State of Somalia arrested dozens of suspects.
The security operation which was carried out on Sunday night targeted main suburbs in the port city whereas security forces stopped cars for checks.
Officials said the main purpose of the operations was to nab members of gangs that terrorize the residents in the commercial city.
The police officials added that the arrested suspects will be investigated before culprits arraigned in court.
The red seaside port city that is the main transit hub for economic migrants previously experienced attacks from armed group al-Shabaab and Islamic state fighters targeting regional administration officials.
On February this year, a Maltese port manager has been shot dead in Bosaso by gunmen disguised as fishermen.
Paul Anthony Formosa, who was the construction project manager for P&O Ports, was killed near the port.
Armed group al-Shabab claimed the responsibility for the attack accusing developers of looting Somalia’s resources.
