The special representative of secretary general to Somalia Michael Keating who is in Djibouti has held meeting with the president of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh.
The two leaders discussed wide range issues including how to ease the tensions in the disputed town of Tukaraq in Sool region.
Keating called on president Guelleh of Djibouti to take an active role of ending the escalating hostilities between Somaliland and Puntland in the region.
On his side, Djiboutian president, Ismail Omar Guelleh promised to make efforts so as to stop the bloodshed between the Somalis and save the lives of the innocent people.
Early May, the Special representative of secretary general for Somalia, Michael Keating paid visit to Garowe and Hargeisa and held meeting with the leaders of Puntland and Somaliland, Abdiweli Ali Gaas and Musa Bihi Abdi respectively.
Mr. Keating held talks with the leaders over Tensions between Puntland and Somaliland.
The discussions also focused on means to de-escalate the hostilities between the two states.
The sentiments of Keating come two weeks after international partners expressed concern over the conflict between Somaliland and Puntland in Tukaraq. They called for immediate cease fire and end the differences through peaceful dialogue.
In a joint statement, the partners said that the bloodshed and violence was taking place a time of difficult humanitarian situation noting that the clashes will only worsen of the people in the area.
