Voters in Djibouti will on Friday head to the polling stations for the country’s parliamentary elections.
The parliamentary candidates from over five political parties who have been campaigning for the last twenty days concluded their rallies on Wednesday.
UMP party which rules the country is expected to win a majority as opposition parties are widely divided and other boycotted.
Over 500,000 people will vote for sixty five seats across the strategic East Africa nation.
African Union had deployed its election observers in Djibouti on Monday.
The mission which is composed of 28 delegates is led by the former prime minister of Central African Republic, Anicet Georges Dologuele.
The AU observers who are drawn from 22 countries in the continent will be deployed to all regions across the country.
In 2013 elections, the ruling party UMP won 55 seats whereas the remaining 10 seat were occupied by the opposition.
Djibouti which is located in one the world’s busiest shipping routes is hosting multiple foreign military bases including France, US, Japan, China and EU anti piracy navy force.
The country has launched major infrastructure projects including ports, railway, oil and gas depots.
