DJIBOUTI ( Halbeeg News) – The Government of Djibouti has announced the donation of USD 600,000 to the Federal Government of Somalia.
The response comes a day after Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre appealled for an international help.
The funds is meant to support the rescue efforts towards the people displaced by flooding in various parts of the country mainly in Hiran region.
The contribution will be delivered to the Government of Somalia via the emergency committee established by Prime Minister, Hassan Kheyre government to coordinate relief and humanitarian efforts for the flood victims.
Other countries such as Turkey and Qatar have also pledged to take their part in the humanitarian efforts.
Basic supplies including tents, medicine, food and clean water were delivered with the help from UN air support since the calamity.
Somalis across the country and abroad have launched fundraising to support the displaced families in the three most affected regions of Hiran, Gedo and Bay.
The chamber of commerce jointly pledged USD 1 million with Hormud telecommunications company donating USD 200,000 and Dahabshiil giving out USD 150, 000.
