At least four people have died from diarrhea outbreak in Kismayo town, Somalia’s Lower Jubba region, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The disease also affected over 300 others who were admitted to various hospitals in Kismayo, the administrative capital of Jubbaland state.
Jubbaland Deputy Minister of health, Ali Nur Ahmed who confirmed the outbreak of the disease to the media said close to two-third of those affected by the disease were children.
“The total number of the people who now undergoing treatment in (various) hospitals in Kismayo town are 377. 223 of that 377 are children, Some of them are from outside Kismayo town,” said Ahmed.
The outbreak of Diarrhea and cholera are common in most regions of Somalia during the hot seasons.
