At least fourteen people have been killed and more than 15 sustained injuries after a car bomb went off in Somali capital, Mogadishu, official and witnesses said.
Abdiaziz Ali Ibrahim, the spokesman for Ministry for Internal Security said a Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) exploded near Wehliye Hotel along the busy Maka al-Mukarama road in Mogadishu.
“A car packed with explosives went off near Wehliye Hotel, the blast killed 14 people and injured 20 others,” said Hildhiban.
Abdikaqadir Abdirahman, the director of Amin Ambulance Service said they had ferried six dead bodies and 21 injured people.
“We are still transporting the wounded people. as for now, our team ferried 21 injured people and six dead bodies,” confirmed Abdirahman.
Mohamed Abdirahman, a journalist who reached the scene said the blast killed 13 people, most of them pedestrians.
“I saw seven people lying in pool of blood and six others were ferried before I reached the area as confirmed by colleagues. Most of them seem to be civilians who happened to be at the hotel at the time of the explosion,” noted Abdirahman.
A Somali Police officer who spoke to the news agencies has blamed Al-Shabab of behind attack.
