MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – At least four have been killed and six others injured after a car bomb exploded a new restaurant in Mogadishu.
According to sources, the explosion which occurred shortly after 8 pm local time has targeted a car of a lawmaker parked a recently opened restaurant in the capital Mogadishu.
The blast ripped through the car of Abdukadir Arabow, who is a member of Lower House Parliament of Somalia.
Among the victims killed in the explosion are a bodyguard of the MP and civilians. The attack also wounded six others.
Arabow, the lawmaker survived the attack.
Witnesses confirmed the blast destroyed part of the restaurant and an auto-rickshaw whose driver also died in the explosion.
In a statement posted on its affiliate online media, al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the attack saying it was targeting the lawmaker.
The explosion came barely hours after a Turkish engineer who was
supervising Aggoye-Mogadishu road construction in the outskirts of Mogadishu survived a landmine blast.
