MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – The Coalition of the (opposition) Presidential Candidates (CPC) has welcomed the dismissal of two senior officers at the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
Abdullahi Kulane, NISA Chief of staff and Abdiwahab Sheikh Ali, head of NISA at Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle Airport were sacked on Friday evening by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
According to the office of the premier, Kulane and Ali were found responsible for blocking passengers heading to Garbaharrey town from leaving the airport in Mogadishu.
In a statement, CPC praised the step taken by PM Roble saying action taken by the Prime Minister is in the right direction.
The move comes days after PM Roble directed the security agencies not to block outgoing lawmakers from vising to their constituencies.
PM Roble warned the security officials against barring the politicians from travelling to their areas ahead of the parliamentary elections.
Unspecified number of politicians had lodged complaints at the office of the premier, according to Roble.
“I’ll no longer tolerate this…if I hear it, I’ll take appropriate action,” the prime minister said.
The prime minister has called for respect of freedom of movements by citizens.
“People can travel to their constituencies like Garbaharey, to Kismayo and back to Mogadishu,” PM Roble.
