MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali Deputy foreign Minister, Mukhtar Mahad Daud has been summoned to appear before a court in Mogadishu.
Mr. Daud earlier failed to appear in the court after the prosecutors levelled charges of abuse of office against him.
According to sources who spoke to Halbeeg News, C.I.D. officers with warrant stormed his office at KM5 locality in Mogadishu this morning but he defied to be arrested.
Somali Police Chief, Bashir Abdi Mohamed intervened in the situation and convinced Mr. Daud to Abide by the law.
“Initially the officers raided his office, the deputy minister got into his car and refused to be arrested, the situation was intervened in by the police chief,” said a reliable source who spoke to Halbeeg News, “The deputy minister accepted to appear before the court but he was not arrested.”
Mr. Daud who has been serving the office since 2017 was accused of the loss of an unspecified amount of Money from the ministry of Foreign affairs.
Confidential reports say the money was embezzled in the funds in the coffer of the ministry.
“Certain amount of Money was siphoned off the ministry. The auditor general and officers from The C.I.D sealed the coffer for investigations,” said the source.
The deputy minister had reportedly removed the seal from the repository.
“Today’s raid at the office of Mr. Daud was facilitated by the allegations that he removed the crime seal from the coffer,” he stated
