GAROWE( Halbeeg News)- The Forum of council of Inter-State Cooperation is expected to open today in Garowe, the administrative capital Puntland regional state.
The agendas of the meeting was not yet disclosed but inner circles of the forum indicate that the leaders will discuss on security and the interests of the regional states after suspending ties with the federal government early last month.
The leaders of Puntland, Jubbaland, South West and Galmudug states are expected to attend this forum as the youngest regional state, Hirshabelle deserted the council days after the federal member states decided to cut ties with federal government during the conclusion of the last meeting held in Kismayo.
A plane carrying the president of Jubbaland state, Ahmed Mohamed Islam ‘Madobe’ and delegations reached Garowe shortly before midday. The remaining leaders are expected to reach the town soon.
At the end of a crucial four-day conference, the leaders accused the Mogadishu government of failing to handle the country’s security, of failing to fulfill its responsibilities toward the states in line with the country’s federal structure, and of taking its eye off the fight against al-Qaida-linked Islamist militants.
On 19th September The president of Hirshabelle state, Mohamed Abdi Ware announced that he reached deal with the federal government adding that the political standoff between his regional administration and the federal government and been solved through dialogue and their coopration came back to normal.
