MOGADISHU ( HALBEEG NEWS) – Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo said concession and compromise were key to the agreement reached between the leadership of the Federal government and the Federal Member States.
Speaking during a dinner event in the Presidential Palace hosted in the honor of the leaders, the head of state stressed that political consensus was necessary to prevent regional states from boycotting upcoming polls.
He maintained that the process must be Somali owned and no foreign entity interference.
The final document on the new election system with be submitted to the parliament for approval according to the communique issued after the agreement on Friday.
A new federal technical committee will be formed to manage the presidential and parliamentary elections on February next year.
The President further noted that the political stability in the country was vital than a disputed election.
” It is very important for me to hold the country together and prevent foreign interference in our affairs,” President Farmajo said
