BOSSASO (Halbeeg News) – A commercial ship carrying millions of dollars worth of cargo has run aground near Bossaso port in Puntland of northeastern Somalia.
The ship was said to have been contracted by Somali company called Barwaqo and it was importing 6 tonnes of cements, according to the company.
An official who spoke for Barwaqo company, Ismail Sibeyd Hussein said that the ship ran aground after it failed to dock at the port.
The ship now is stuck in the beach near the port. We are trying to deploy rescue teams and boats small boats,” he said.
Bossaso port authorities have not yet comment on the incident.
The ship which sailed from UAE would be the first involve accident since the beginning of this year.
In early 2018, a commercial ship carrying importing food and supplies from the United Arab Emirates ran aground same area.
The traders also allege that the ship ran aground after it was denied entry to the port.
