CHRISTCHURCH ( Halbeeg News) – Christchurch mosque attacker, Brenton Tarant has been charged with 50 counts of murder on Thursday.
The 28-year-old Australian will appear before the court on Friday morning by video from prison in Auckland.
He first appeared in the Christchurch District Court the day after the shootings, which took place on March 15.
if found guilty, Tarrant could be the first person sentenced in a New Zealand court to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Brenton Tarrant live streamed shooting at the Al Noor Mosque in the suburb of Riccarton and continued at the Linwood Islamic during Friday prayers mid last month.
50 people including children were killed in the shooting.
Authorities said the murderer was inspired by white nationalist ideas backed by racism towards the people of faith.
Global leaders have condemned the attack.
