HARGEISA ( HALBEEG NEWS) – The Peoples Republic of China Ambassador to Somalia Qin Jian has arrived in Hargeisa, the capital of the self-declared state of Somaliland on Saturday.
According to sources, Ambassador Qin Jian met senior Somaliland officials.
The discussions between the two sides focused on Beijing’s concerns on Somaliland move to establish ties with unrecognized Taiwan which still claimed by China to be part of its territory.
Somaliland and Hargeisa agreed late last month to establish diplomatic ties and exchange experts in various areas.
The arrangement between the two internationally unrecognized states was not welcomed by China and Somalia which still claim both territories as part and parcel of their respective countries.
In the other hand, Ethiopia and Turkey have caution Muse Bihi Abdi administration against Egypt plans to establish a naval base in Somaliland.
High-level delegations from Addis and Cairo separately visited Hargeisa last month to safeguard their interest.
Addis Ababa views Egyptian access to Somaliland as a threat to its national security over the Grand Renaissance Dam.
