BEIJING (Halbeeg News) – A Chinese company will help Puntland regional state of Somalia in building a modern fishing port facility.
The plan to build the port follows an agreement reached on Friday between Puntland regional government and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Limited (CCECC.) in Beijing.
The agreement signed by Puntland fishing and water resource minister, Farah Cawash was witnessed by the regional leader, Saed Abdullahi Deni.
The construction of the modern fishing port will commence at the historic red sea ancient town of Eyl according to the agreement.
The project is aimed at elevating the local economy through the export of fish products and provide employment for the local population.
Beijing based China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Limited (CCECC.) which has previously completed the construction of Bosaso airport is also implementing the tarmacking of Eyl- Dangorayo road and the upgrading of Galkacyo airport.
A delegation led by Puntland leader Saed Abdullahi Deni is in China to meet potential Chinese companies for investment.
