MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Several people including inmates and soldiers are feared to have died in Mogadishu after one of the prisoners who allegedly grabbed a gun from a soldier opened fire indiscriminately.
According to sources in the jail, the prisoner started shooting inmates and the guards before engaging in gunfight against the custodial corps.
Several guards and inmates are said to have died on the spot but no official statement from the government.
Other sources who spoke to VOA Somali claim that number of al-Shabaab in jail engaged in a gunfight against prison guards but It is not yet clear how the inmates obtained weapons.
