At least one person has been killed after a car loaded with explosives went off in the outskirts of Somali capital, Mogadishu.
The state owned media quoting officials on Sunday said the security forces foiled a car bombing attack following tips off.
Suicide bomber detornated the Vehicle Borne Improved Explosive Device (VBIED) after he was intercepted by the security forces near Siinka Dher locality.
” The forces thwarted the attack, they seized a car bomb heading to the capital, in the process of checking, the suicide the driver prematurely blew himself up,” said Somali National News Agency (SONNA).
The agency said the explosion caused no casualties to the government forces.
The attack comes just two days after car bomb near Wehliye Hotel killed 17 people and injured more than twenty others.
According to the government officials, most of the victims of the attack were pedestrians and civilians who were having tea near the hotel and sideways.
Early this month, three soldiers were killed and four others were after a car rammed into a security checkpoint at Sinka Dhere village.
Al-Shabab claimed the responsibility for the attack.
