BARDERE (Halbeeg News)- Two key al-Shabaab commanders have surrendered to Somali government on Tuesday.
Government officials in Bardere town in Gedo region said the two senior figures surrendered themselves to the security agencies about 15 kilometers to the agricultural town.
“Two al-Shabaab commanders surrendered to security agencies in Bardere.” Intelligence officials in Jubaland regional state of Somalia said.
“One of the figures is named Adan Coobe famously known as Mohamed Qaani.” Officials added.
Coobe is a member of al Shabaab’s powerful Shura council.
Somali government offers amnesty to members of an al-Shabaab armed group that defects.
They are required to renounce violence.
