Mohamed Osman Jawari, the Lower House speaker on Tuesday confirmed his resignation from the office for the first time since Monday when some of the government ministers unveiled his quit.
In a joint press conference with President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo on Tuesday, Jawari said he stepped down as the leader of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
The former Speaker confirmed that he would address the House Members on Wednesday.
He noted that he would share the House with the progressive achievements he gained since 2012.
Somalia’s Minister for Constitutional Affairs, Abdirahman Hosh Jibril on Monday disclosed the resignation of the embattled speaker who initially said he would be only leaving the office through ballot in the Parliament.
According to sources, the resignation follows two-day long meeting between Jawari and President Farmajo where Jawari was convinced to step down.
Jawari has been occupying the office since 2012 when the post transitional government came to power
