MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Fighting between Somali National Army SNA) and heavily armed al-Shabaab fighters has erupted in Somalia’s central region, Galgaduud.
The battle which broke out early Sunday morning in Tula-Hayow village along Dhusamareb-Eldhere road came after al-Shabaab ambushed SNA soldiers in the area.
Reports say both sides are engaging in heavy artillery fire as the residents started fleeing from their homes.
Recent months, GalMudug regional forces backed by Somali military have stepped operations to liberate towns and villages under al-Shabaab controlled in Mudug and Galgaduud regions.
