MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – At least three regional state lawmakers have been injured after unknown assailants hurled hand grenade bomb at a residential house in Jowhar, a town about 30km north of Somali capital, Mogadishu.
According to witnesses, the blast which occurred on Friday evening destroyed part of the house.
The victims were identified as Adan Mohamed Muse, Duwane Farah Ali and Osman Abdullahi Dhore.
No group has claimed the responsibility for the blast but it’s the hallmarks of al-Shabaab attacks.
Al-Shabaab has been targeting government officials and lawmakers of both federal and state levels since its inception in 2006.
Last September, Al-Shabaab assassin squad killed Nur Hashi Warsame, minister for religious and endowment affairs in Hirshabelle state.
The group also attacks military convoys traveling along Mogadishu-Jowhar Road.
In 2011, al-Shabaab lost control of Somali capital following days-long fierce fighting with Somali military backed by African Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom) forces.
The group currently is control of small towns and villages in south and central Somalia and is also capable of conducting bomb attacks in major towns.
