MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Banadir regional court has today dismissed corruption allegations against the former deputy foreign minister of federal government, Mukhtar Mahad Daud.
The court dropped the case saying there was no sufficient evidence to support the allegations against Mr. Mahad by the office of the Auditor General.
However, Judge Muse Maalim Mohamed has imposed a fine of $7000 to be paid by Mukhtar Mahad for damages caused to the court seal by the foreign ministry which is open for appeal.
The lawyers of the minister have argued that there is no case to answer by their client since the alleged missing funds were used for the transaction of the foreign ministry activities.
Mr. Mahad was suspended by Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre on August this year to give time the prosecutors to complete financial mismanagement allegations.
President Abdullahi Farmaajo vowed to fight corruption which ravaged the horn of Africa nation for the last two decades.
