A landmine hit African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) convoy on Tuesday evening while heading to Bal’ad town in Middle Shabelle region barely a week after Al-Shabaab killed two regional lawmakers.
Residents in Ilbaq village near Bal’ad town confirmed the incident, noting that one of the military vehicles was damaged during the attack.
There were no immediate reports of casualties and AU is yet to comment on the matter.
Early this month, two lawmakers from Hirshabelle state were killed along the road with several of their bodyguards in an ambush at Ilbaq village.
