Dozens of Somali forces have been arrested following the disruption of the House session on Wednesday, official confirmed.
Speaking to the media in Mogadishu, Somali Army Chief, Abdiweli Jama’a Gorod said the soldiers who entered the Parliament building with weapons were detained.
“The soldiers who made their way into the Parliament with guns were caught, Majority of them are now in our custody and We are still hunting the remaining one,” said Gorod.
The Chief also pointed out that the Army is investigating cases of the country’s army force impersonation.
“We are getting information that there were individuals who impersonated the forces and gained access to the Parliament, We are on their heel, now the situation has been eased,” the Army boss said.
The remarks came just hours after Somali Parliament session was put off following deployment of unknown number of security forces into the Parliament building.
Pictures from inside the Parliament showed a large number of personnel clad in police uniform outnumbering a handful MPs inside the House.
In accordance with article 38 of the House Standing Orders, Armed forces are prohibited to enter the parliament without Proper permission from the House Leadership.
The First Deputy Speaker, Abdiweli Sheikh Mudey on Wednesday accused the embattled Speaker of allegedly deploying his own forces into the House of the People of the Federal Parliament.
